How To Install Solver in Excel 2007

Determining if Solver is installed:

To determine if Solver is installed in Excel 2007, click the "Data" tab on the top menu bar and see if the Solver menu item appears on the upper right side:

If the solver menu item does not appear, you will need to install the Solver add-in.

 

Installing the Solver Add-in:

  1. Click the large circular Office button on the upper left corner of Excel to bring down the menu. 
  2. At the bottom of the menu, click the button that says "Excel Options"

  3. Click on "Add-ins" on the left side of the windows that pops up.
  4. At the bottom of the window, where it says "Manage:", be sure that "Excel Add-ins" is selected.   Click the "Go..." button.

  5. In the "Add-ins" windows that pops up, be sure to select the "Solver Add-in".   Click the "Ok" button to install the Solver add-in.

  6. The installation process may ask you to confirm the installation and will take several minutes to complete. The Solver menu item should then appear in the Data tab as described above.
