In this talk I describe my recent work in predicting episodes of elevated intracranial pressure in traumatic brain injury patients using statistical machine learning techniques. In particular, I will focus on the data driven aspects of the project.
After presenting my work, I will share some insight into the research process, from finding collaborators to obtaining decent results to submitting a paper to a peer-reviewed journal and student research competition. There were some interesting challenges along the way. I hope you can all benefit from hearing about my experiences.
