Matlab Finite Element Analysis Software

One of my former PhD students has published a very popular text on
applying Matlab to finite element analysis for stress analysis, heat 
transfer, eigenproblems, transient analysis, control, etc.:

Y. W. Kwon, H. Bang
"The Finite Element Method using Matlab"
CRC Press, New York, 1996 (and later editions)

It includes many Matlab scripts on a disk.

Many other Matlab FEA solutions can be found on the web.
However, my experience is that they run about 100 to 1000
times slower than F90.  They still have educational value.
