The Method

     for analyzing the heart rate variability is a two step process. The first step is accomplished by the ECG filtering described in the previous section. By detecting where the heart beats occur, the heart rate as a function of time can be determined. Using this heart rate, studies of the variation in heart rate with time can be done. This involves performing spectral analysis on the heart rate. However, this is a difficult process because the heart rate seems to be a very random value. Some of the algorithms applied ot the heart rate are listed below:
